Privacy Policy

AskACurrentParent.com is an SMS conversation service owned and operated by K12 Assist LLC. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what participating organizations can see.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide when signing up, including your name, email address, mobile number, whether you are a current or prospective parent, the participating organization or location, and the ages of children relevant to the program. We also collect conversation messages and related operational records.

SMS consent and your choices

Joining or requesting to join AskACurrentParent.com and consenting to receive SMS are distinct decisions. The organization-specific registration form separately asks for affirmative SMS consent. The SMS checkbox is not preselected. Consent is not given simply by viewing a page, providing a phone number, or accepting our Terms.

We may maintain consent status and related registration and messaging records to document permissions and operate the service. Reply STOP to opt out of text messages or HELP for assistance. Stopping messages does not automatically delete records already collected.

Mobile opt-in information and SMS consent will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

How we use information

K12 Assist LLC uses information to administer the AskACurrentParent.com program, identify the participating organization, help match prospective and current parents, invite participants, manage and relay SMS conversations, provide support, investigate issues, and maintain appropriate records.

What the participating organization can see

The organization or program being discussed may receive participant information, including names, email addresses, mobile numbers, child-age information, and conversation transcripts. Authorized organization administrators may access these records and may follow up with prospective parents. In some conversations an authorized organization representative may also participate.

AskACurrentParent.com is operated by K12 Assist LLC; the fact that a particular organization is being discussed does not make that organization the operator of the AACP messaging service.

How messages are handled

AskACurrentParent.com is designed to receive, record, and relay text messages among authorized participants. Messages are handled through the service rather than directly from one participant's personal phone number to another's. The intended design does not reveal participants' personal phone numbers to each other within relayed message text; this does not prevent authorized organization personnel from accessing participant contact details as described above.

Sharing and service providers

We do not sell participant information. We may disclose information to the participating organization for program administration; to providers supporting SMS delivery, hosting, security, and other service operations; or as necessary for legal obligations, safety, fraud prevention, or enforcement of our terms. We do not share mobile opt-in data or SMS consent for third-party marketing.

Adult participants and children

This service is intended for adults aged 18 or older. We ask about children's ages to help match parents; the SMS service is not intended for direct use by children, and we do not knowingly solicit children to participate.

Retention and security

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, support participants and organizations, maintain compliance and operational records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards, although no system can promise absolute security.

Privacy requests

For questions or requests to access, correct, or delete information where applicable, contact help@askacurrentparent.com. Requests may be subject to legal, compliance, or operational record-retention requirements.

Changes and additional information

We may update this policy as the service develops. The current version will be published here. See our Terms of Service and SMS Compliance page.
